Author, edible gardener and cook Ysanne Spevack has been writing, cooking, and growing healthy food since 1999, when she founded her ‘online magazine’ about organic food in those very early days of the internet. Her first cookbook, Organic Cookbook, was published in 2001. She’s had 13 cookbooks published since then, as well as numerous food features, from The Los Angeles Times food section to Food Illustrated magazine.

Her new cookbook, Vegetable Cakes, has been widely praised in the UK, including a cover feature and 3-page review in Vegan Living Magazine, and a double page feature in the Daily Mail UK national newspaper in October 2018.

By popular demand, Vegetable Cakes will be coming out in the US in January 2019, with a launch event in Los Angeles.

Ysanne has cooked for William Shatner, Patrick Dempsey, and Joshua Bell, as well as events for The Path Meditation, Sharon Salzberg, and The Numinous.

In 2004, she moved from her hometown London to Los Angeles, and then to NYC. She is inspired by the best of these three regions - healthy plant-based cuisine from California, stylish on-trend ideas from New York, and traditional comfort from London.

The result is food that’s actively good for you, on-trend, a little quirky, and delicious!

Ysanne’s food philosophy includes local, organic, plant-rich food, without refined sugar, and peppered with medicinal herbs from many traditions selected with deep knowledge from science and the holistic traditions, as well as new emerging areas like epigenetics. Ysanne is interested in how cultural factors impact our health, and how everyone’s diets need to be custom - by definition. There’s no one-size-fits-all diet, whether that’s paleo or vegan or anything else. We all have different nutritional needs, and different tastes.

Nutrient-dense, mineral-rich, seasonal, and meticulously sourced ingredients inspire her. Foods with exceptional provenance, and commonly-found ingredients that regular folks can find in their local market. Real food for families on a budget, as well as celebrities who care about their wellness, because everyone’s health is equally important.

Ysanne's vision brings food and psychology together with epigenetics to create beautiful and meaningful time at the table together, with healthy food that's accessible, delicious, and feels clean for each of the diners.

Eating integrates our senses - it's as much about the sense of smell, touch, seeing and hearing as it is about taste. And that’s why Ysanne invites you to “Taste Colors”.

And finally, speaking of the sense of hearing, Ysanne has more than one string to her bow! She is a celebrated musician and composer who has toured and recorded with many of the world’s favorite musicians, including The Smashing Pumpkins, Tiesto, Christina Perri, Elton John, and Hawkwind.
